Meet the Directors
Director - Meredith Walraven
Meredith began her dance career at Steps and Broadway Dance Studios in the Garland area. While dancing competitively with Steps under the direction of Robin Mitchell and Teresa Price and Tempe Kirby at Broadway Dance Studio, she won numerous overall awards as well as solo awards. Her team at Broadway was selected to perform at the Maverick’s pre-game show. Meredith has performed in different cities such as San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Nashville, and Orlando.
Meredith attended Rockwall High School and was a part of the Stingerettes Varsity Drill Team under the direction of Melissa Holliman. While on the team, she was a member of the elite dance group, Showstoppers, and elite kick line, Kick Club, her sophomore through senior years. She was awarded Lieutenant her Junior year and Captain her Senior year. At the end of her senior year, she was awarded Best Dancer by the team.
She attended TCU in the fall of 2000 where she was a member of the TCU Showgirls. Meredith transferred from TCU to SFA where she was a part of the dance program. Her senior choreographic piece was selected to be presented in the Dance Repertory Showcase. She earned her BS in Dance and Speech Communication in May of 2004.
After completing her degree, Meredith received a position at Rowlett High School, where she was the Junior Varsity Drill Team Director and Assistant Varsity Director. She was at Rowlett from 2004-2007. In those three years, her teams won numerous state and national titles. Her JV team won three consecutive regional Best in Class team awards in the JV category. They were awarded the National title in JV teams her first year there and 3rd and 1st Runner Up the following two years.
Meredith has started her 12th year as Director of the Planoettes! The last eleven years have been a huge success with numerous regional and 7 National Team titles along with 2 officer National Titles and an Elite Team National Title! Meredith is very blessed to be the director of this talented and dedicated group of ladies. She is very excited about continuing her tradition of excellence in her teams with the Planoettes. She is honored to have this position and hopes to continue the great traditions of the Planoettes for years to come!
Assistant Director - Natalie Scheller
Natalie Scheller is a native Texan who was born in Lubbock and grew up in the north Dallas area. She attended Wakeland High School in Frisco, Texas where she was a four-year member of the Legacy Line drill team. She was chosen as the first sophomore Lieutenant in the team’s history and was selected First Lieutenant her junior year. Her senior year kept her busy with the team as she held the position of Captain. She received various awards throughout her high school career, and was chosen as a member of the National Miss High Kick Company at American Dance and Drill Team’s National competition at UNT. In her senior year, she had the opportunity to perform in the half time show for Super Bowl XLV with the Black Eyed Peas and Usher.
Upon graduation, Natalie was selected as a Staff Member for American Dance and Drill Team School. In her position with ADTS, she has served as a choreographer, summer camp instructor and contest judge since 2011. Natalie has worked with teams from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana. She has also received the chance to represent ADTS as a chaperone for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, where she performed on international television with the Spirit of America staff and dancers.
Natalie graduated with Distinction from the University of Oklahoma where she achieved a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education. She was recognized as the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education Outstanding Senior in Social Studies her senior year. While at OU, she was a member of the Sooner Dance Company for two years and held an officer position in her second year.
This will be Mrs. Scheller's fourth year assisting the Planoettes. She also teaches US History and Government. She is looking forward to another successful year with the Planoettes!
Assistant Director - Devin Dusek
Devin Dusek is a life long Wildcat, born and raised in Plano, Texas. She graduated from Plano Senior High School where she was a member of director Meredith Walraven's first National Championship team. As a Planoette, Devin held Junior Representative and Sergeant positions and was a member of both the Silver and Maroon Elite Lines. Since graduating, Devin has earned a Psychology degree focusing on Child and Adolescent development as well as her cosmetology license.
She is now the Congregational Care Coordinator at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Devin also continues to dance and teach on staff with American Dance/Drill (ADTS) and is a choreographer and judge for many schools.
Devin feels blessed and honored to assist with the Planoettes. The Pride of Plano will always have a special place in her heart and she is looking forward to another amazing year! Go Wildcats!
